Up
The 14u Elite played in the NSA Slide Into Summer
Tournament June 13-14 at Cardinal Run Field.
They fell into the losers bracket early Saturday
with their loss to the Storm. They battled
hard and won their next two games that evening.
8:00am Sunday came way too early but the girls
played tough and won 5 back to back games.
They lost in the Championship game 2-1. They
may have placed 2nd in the tournament but they
were true champions in effort and team spirit.

ASA Bluegrass
Blowout

This past weekend (June 20-21), the 14u Bluegrass
Elite posted an impressive victory. The
tournament was the annual Bluegrass Blowout in
Versailles, Ky. which traditionally draws some of
the biggest fields and best teams from the area.
Coming from the 10th seed position of 15 teams in
their division, the Elite fought through four back
to back victories on Sunday. The first three were
low scoring, hard fought battles featuring their
pitching and some outstanding defense. The fourth
(and championship) game was against the same team
that had beaten them in the final game
of a tournament the weekend before. This one was
an offensive struggle with
the Elite players showing tremendous heart and
perseverance by overcoming a three run deficit in
the final inning to win 8-7! Not only was this an
exciting event but the victory qualifies the Elite
for the 14u Northern Nationals in July.
Congratulations to the 14u Bluegrass Elite!

The 12u Bluegrass Elite A
team competed in the ASA 12u B Northern
Nationals coming in 5th place. The
Elite qualified for the national tournament by
winning the ASA Bring It tournament in
Versailles
KY.
The ASA 12u B Nationals were held in
Bowling Green,
KY
and featured 29 teams from 8 states. Competing
as a league All-Star team against full-time
year-round travel teams, the Bluegrass Elite
completed pool play as a number 2 seed and
finished with a 5 and 3 record in the pool
play/double elimination tournament. The Elite
scored 45 runs in 8 games with the highlights
being an 11-3 run rule of the Oaklawn Diamonds
and a 12-4 dominating performance over the
Diamond Silver Crushers who were a number one
seed and tournament favorite.
Bluegrass ended
its run with a loss to The Missouri Havoc. Even
in that final loss they gave a strong
performance losing 6 to 4 to a team that had
only allowed 5 runs in its first 7 games at the
ASA Nationals. We are proud of the 12u Bluegrass
Elite girls and all that they accomplished. |
